Precision Abrasive Waterjet Cutting
Abrasive WaterJet Cutting can offer many advantages as a cutting option:
·The ability to cut a wide and diverse range of materials, for example:
o Hardened Tool Steels, Mild Steels, Stainless Steels, Titanium, Copper, Brass, Aluminium, Nickel, Bronze & Specialised Alloys. o Plastics, Hard Rubber, Composites including Carbon and Kevlar fibre. o Glass, Plain and Laminated including Bullet Proof. o Ceramics, Graphite, Wood. o Granite, Marble, Stone and Stone Substitutes, Concrete. o Laminations of dissimilar materials. o If your material is not listed, please call.
· The Cutting Process
o Abrasive WaterJet Cutting is an Erosion Process using a very high-pressure water jet, which has abrasive fed into the water stream. The jet is self-piercing for holes and internal cutouts. The maximum width of the cut is 0.8mm. o There is no heat generated in the material being cut, therefore there is no melting, hardening or heat distortion of the cut surface, allowing further machining if required. For example, threading or final reaming of holes. o We can cut most materials up to 50mm thick and in some cases 100mm. o Our maximum part size is 2540 mm x 1400 mm. o There is a choice of 5 cut qualities, from, just break through (Q1), to a fine satin finish (Q5). Different cut qualities may also be assigned to any section of the part.
· Precision
o Using the latest technology in XY tables and computer software, we can cut within a tolerance of +/- 0.127mm over 2.5 mtrs. and +/- 0.08mm over 300mm. o Multiple part design and quantities can be nested to optimise material usage.
· Productivity
o WaterJets have high production flexibility, so we are pleased to accept single item and prototype cutting as well as repeat batches. o We can accept drawings on paper or directly in *.dxf format as standard and have the ability to translate other CAD formats as well as G-Code. o For a quick response, drawing files can be emailed.
